What All Future Brides Should Know

Filed under: A Guide to Wedding Invitations — zongkk @ 2:32 am  Tagged

When deciding on bridal shower invitations, it can be a very good idea to have them custom-made. Customizing bridal shower invitations allows people to know exactly what to expect at the bridal shower and it can also make the invitations a little more fun by injecting personality into them. After the custom design has been chosen for the bridal shower invitation, it also makes it easier to follow the same theme for bridal invitation cards, bridal shower cards, and the bridal shower thank-you cards.

Color may be the first thing to consider when designing bridal shower invitations. The color should reflect the personality of the bride-to-be, or follow her wedding colors. Another advantage to having the bridal shower invitations customized is that they can also reflect the season of the shower, or the wedding. Choosing autumn shades for an autumn wedding, or having pale yellows and pinks on a spring bridal shower invitation can be a very nice touch.

Paper is the next item to consider when customizing bridal shower invitations. There are many wonderful paper selections to choose from and when customizing, the shape and texture of the paper can say a lot about the wedding and bridal shower. Whatever paper is used for the bridal shower invitation, the same paper should be used for the bridal invitation cards, bridal shower cards, and bridal shower thank-you cards.

Its easy when customizing bridal shower invitations to get carried away. But bridal invitation cards should be just that. They should be no bigger than an index card and only the specifics should be mentioned. Its very important to put the who, where, and when on the bridal invitation card. Once the basics have been taken care of, other details such as dress, or gift registries can be mentioned but anything other than that is really too much information for the bridal shower card.

If the bridal shower invitations are customized, its important to stay with the chosen design when creating the bridal shower thank-you cards. You dont want guests to be confused as to the theme, even when the party is over. Again bridal shower thank-you cards should be kept short and to the point. The bride-to-be will want to thank the guest for coming, and for any gift that was given. Usually those invited to the bridal shower are often invited to the wedding so a short note about looking forward to seeing them soon is also appropriate.

Just as important as the design of the bridal shower invitation, the bridal shower invitation wording is just as important. You can use the same wording for the bridal shower invitation, the inexpensive bridal shower invitations cards, and the bridal shower thank-you cards. The wording can help keep to the theme of the bridal shower invitation. Some nice bridal shower invitation wording ideas are: Jennifer will be a bride very soon, Lets help her celebrate before the honeymoon, and the following bridal shower thank-you card could read, Jennifer will be a bride very soon, Thank you for helping her celebrate before the honeymoon.

Tips for Picking out Wedding Invitations for an Upscale Ceremony

The day has finally come. You’ve set a date for your wedding, and you’re set to marry the man you love. You’ve dreamed of this moment for as long as you can remember. When you were younger, you played “marriage” with your sister up in the attic, trying on shoes that were ten sizes too big, holding up your mother’s wedding dress and examining your reflection in the cracked antique mirror. In high school, you played match-making games and read your horoscope daily, hoping for hints at who would be “the one.” Come college, you met the guy of your dreams, only to see him run off with someone else.   But now, you’ve finally found him. The guy who you’ll spend the rest of your life with. And you can’t wait to walk down the aisle. But first, there’s much to be done! Rome wasn’t built in a day, and a wedding can’t be planned overnight. There’s much to do, and it all starts with invitations.   The invite is the first glimpse your guests will have at your wedding ceremony. It dictates the colors, the theme, and the style of your wedding. Will you go funky or classic? Will your wedding be colorful, or black and white? Black tie or low-key? Inside or outside? In many ways, your invitation dictates what your wedding will be — but no pressure!   Here are some tips for picking out wedding invitations for an upscale ceremony.

wedding-invitations

wedding-invitations

First and foremost, try not to be too over the top. Wedding invitations can be fun, and they can be funky, but the invitation shouldn’t outshine the event itself. This is your big day, and you don’t want a crazy invite to overshadow you. Consider invitations in no more than a few colors. Embossed flourishes are great details, but they sometimes can make an invitation look too busy.   The weight of an invite is also of importance. Consider printing your invite on heavy paper. Embossing often adds weight to your invite, which is a good thing, in this case, not a bad thing. An ecru invitation also makes for a good amount of weight — you want something that’s going to stick out when your guests receive the invitation in the mail.   Consider a solid-colored invite with gold shimmer around the border. You’ll get rave reviews along with your response cards when you send out this sort of beautiful and classic invite. A champagne shimmer around the border of your invite adds a note of glamour to your celebration, and hints to guests that they can expect class and luxury on the big day.   Along the same lines, try not to go for an invite that folds. Folding invitation formats are better left to birthday cards and other, less formal events — but if you’re planning an upscale ceremony, you’re going to want to leave the folding invites behind. A non-folding invite is larger sized and will require a larger envelope, but this will help it stand out in a large pile of mail when it arrives at the home of your guests.   Another great classic detail to consider is the use of the monogram. Monograms have sadly gone out of style in recent years, but they’re still an utterly classy way to go. Add a special touch to your invites, and personalize them, by adding monograms of your initials at the very top or very bottom of each card included in your invite (that includes the palce setting card and the RSVP card as well).   If you want something that’s upscale and classy, but also not at all simple, consider an invite that comes tied with a beautiful satin ribbon. A ribbon tied around the invitation gives the guests a hint of the party that is to come. It’s as though they get to unwrap a tiny present when your invitation arrives, which will only make them all the more excited for your big day!   Don’t rule out simple black and white. A classically styled, large ecru invitation with a white background and simple black embossed text can say a lot about the luxury and nature of your upscale celebration without being too fussy. Sometimes simple is best, and such is definitely the case when it comes to wedding invites. Black and white says that your event will be luxurious but classic, timeless but modern. Black and white never goes out of style, and considering that those are likely to be the colors you and your groom will don, it’s a nice nod to what’s to come.   While shopping for your wedding invites might seem extremely stressful, the perfect wedding invite for your upscale invitation can be achieved — by taking to heart the simple tips above.

Pretty as a picture

There’s no better way to customize holiday wedding invitations than by using personal photos. For a Christmas wedding, add a photo of you and your loved one smooching under the mistletoe. Is a Halloween wedding in the works? Use a picture of you and your honey nestled in a pumpkin patch.

Online printing specialists make personalizing your photo invite as easy as clicking a mouse. After choosing the perfect invitations, simply upload a pic in a standard file format. Don’t get jittery if you’re not a computer expert. Most internet invite websites have customer service departments that will help you with all of your questions.

Illustrate your point

Design your holiday wedding invitations using images. A Christmas-themed ceremony invite might feature snowmen, Christmas trees, holiday ornaments, wreaths, or even mistletoe. If your nuptials will take place around Easter time, use designs that include tulips, bunnies, or other springtime themes.

If you or someone you know has artistic genes, custom design an image for your holiday marriage stationery. No Picassos in your family? Invitation printers offer hundreds of designs for every imaginable holiday theme, from Thanksgiving ceremonies to Cinco de Mayo themed events.

Say it with color

Holidays are full of color–whether it’s the oranges and browns of Halloween or the red, white, and blue of Independence Day. One of the easiest ways to create festive holiday wedding invitations is to incorporate color into the invite. Imagine soft pastels for an Easter time ceremony or green shades for St. Patrick’s Day nuptials. You can add holiday colors to the paper, the font, or the envelope lining. Jazz up holiday wedding invitations with colorful ribbons and ties, too.

Shop like a champ

If you’re a plan-ahead kind of girl you can save money by stocking up on holiday wedding invitations up to a year (or more) in advance. Scour online wedding invite printers after holidays for great deals on themed wedding stationery.

Give guests a heads-up

Holidays tend to packed with activities, from summer barbecues to Christmas parties. Send guests a save the date invitation four to six months before the ceremony. This gives guests the opportunity to set aside your special day so they can share it with you. What’s more is that since airports, train terminals and hotels tend to fill up over holiday times, it gives guest ample time to set up travel arrangements and accommodations. Save the date invitations can be sent in a conventional paper format or by email.

So whether you’re getting hitched on New Year’s Eve or exchanging vows at a casual Fourth of July barbecue, get your guests into a festive mood by using holiday wedding invitations.

Affordable Wedding Invites

What Every Soon to be Wed Couple Ought to Know on How to have affordable wedding invitations

You have finally made that decision to tie the knot.
After you decide to get wed, almost the next step is to let all the special people in your lives know your plans. Your wedding cards are very important because not only do they tell people you are about to be wed, but they also let them know the place and the date. Your happily ever after really does begin with inviting the people in your life to take part in the happy get together. You’d really love them to share in your joy and in your excitement.

Your wedding invites could be seen as a sneak preview of your marriage, letting your guests have a glimpse of what to expect on the specialall important day.
Everyone knows that organising a wedding is one of the most trying things you’ll ever do in life. But preparing a wedding might not take a toll only on your nerves – your wallet could be affected too! Planning a wedding can be very costly. And all the things that need to be done might seem limitless at times. Not only do you have to consider the venue, the bride’s and bridesmaids’ dresses, suits etc, there are so many other things that you have to take into consideration and all these things ccan have a huge impact on your budget. So, try to control your costs wherever you can. A great way of carrying this out is by starting with your wedding cards. Just because you spend less on the wedding cards does not mean you have to compromise quality and elegance. After all, there are additional costs to consider for the important day. Most soon to be married couples dream of having budget wedding invites that still look the part. But how do you achieve this seemingly impossible task?

Here are a few things to look at.One thing to check is the type of stationery. |}{And especially the quality of the paper you choose and how you want it to have an impact.

So how do you balance the quality of the stationery along with its price? Here’s the thing, budget wedding cards do not have to look cheap because you have not paid through the nose. With a little know how, you can have the most elegant looking wedding invites without spending an arm and a leg for it. Here are Here what to do.

The first step to take providers who do not have private stalls. You may ask why, but it’s simple really, those suppliers who have the overheads of shops, utility bills, etc, tend to reflect this in the cost of the wedding invitations. If you look hard enough and you search in the right places, you are bound to have cheap wedding invites. Also there are suppliers that may not be stationed in the most glamorous places, but they carry the most glamorous designs. Why go through the expensive middle man when you can talk directly to the supplier?

Secondly, another option of course is to make your own invitations. Invites made by you are bound to have an impact on your guests . But do be careful if you choose this option – sometimes it can be more time consuming to make your own, and time is precious when you are planning a wedding!

Thirdly, as you know, some wedding cards can contain several pages and therefore be a bit too much for your guests to take in. Just by keeping the invites short and sweet, you’ll save on the paper you need. Choose a quality stationery but with a properly worded invite, you do not have to use so much of it. That’s one great way to have budget wedding cards.

4 types of printing in wedding invitations

When looking at wedding invitations, you should know that there are four general types printing available–all have their pros and cons.  Here is a closer look at what each type is and what the difference is:

1) Flat/Digital: Flat and digital aren’t 100% the same, but they have the same effect, so we’ll group them together.

  • Flat printing is simply where the ink is laid flat on the paper.  A metal or paper plate is created from a black and white image (your wedding words!) with a laser printer and is lightly coated with ink.  The printer will use a press to actually press the ink onto your invitations.
  • Digital printing allows you to use color ink, and uses a digital printer to create the images.  The print quality is similar to flat printing.  It allows for multiple color options, more graphics on the invitation, and ink coverage to the edge of the paper. You see a lot of digital printing today with the less traditional, more modern invitations.  Both flat and digital printing is cheaper than than the upcoming methods!

2) Thermography: This is a popular type of printing today.  This process simulates engraving, but keeps the price a lot lower.  Typically, thermography starts with flat printing, and while the ink is still wet, is covered with a light powder.  The powdering is then heated so that it rises.  More technically, “when the printed sheets come off a press pass, they pass through a powder application where resin is applied to the wet ink. The resin is then removed from the sheet except where it adheres to the wet ink. The printer then heats the paper, causing the resin to melt and fuse to the ink. The page is then cooled, which finalizes the process”

The drawbacks are: classic engraving gives a more complete effect.  The best upside?  It costs 30 to 50% less than letterpress and engraving.

3)  Engraving: This is a formal printing process…your invitations can be printed in the same was as paper in the 1700s.  Engraving uses copper plates–your invitation is actually carved in reverse on the plate, and then it is pressed into the paper with enough force to “bruise” the reverse side.  It forces the paper to raise slightly where the press is on the front.  You can feel each letter on both sides–raised on one side, indented on the other.  As Wedding Paper Divas says, this “gives engraved stationery a look of distinction.”  Con?  Very expensive.

4.  Letter press: Even older than engraving.  The Gutenberg Bible was printed Letterpress style.  This went out of fashion for a while, but it has been brought back in more recent years.  It means taking moveable type (individual letters that you put together to make words that are raised slightly) and locking it into a press, inking the type, and then pressing a sheet of paper onto the type.  It’s very time consuming, and very, very expensive.

See the slideshow for examples of each type of printing.  Check out some of the local printers in Winston-Salem and Greensboro for your wedding invitations!
